We love badminton - do you?

We are the members of the Badminton Verein Frankfurt 06 e.V. – more than 150 children, teenagers and adults are chasing the shuttlecocks with us.

We have the right offer for all age groups and skill levels. Are you a teenager but already have plenty of badminton practice? Then this is the right place for you. Are you an adult, but just gaining your first experience on the badminton court? Then you are also in the right place. Everyone is welcome – regardless of your level of play.

We have players from more than 15 different countries. And it never gets boring! In addition to training, free play and competitions of all kinds, our members also like to do things together. Our events team regularly comes up with fresh ideas.

BV Frankfurt 06 – a Christmas story

Actually, our club is a Christmas present, because we founded the “Badminton Verein Frankfurt e.V.” on December 22, 2005 – in a cozy pre-Christmas atmosphere in the living room of a founding member. We started with seven men and women.

2006

Founded in 2005, but the name is BV Frankfurt 06. Huh?

Why does our club actually have 06 in its name if it was founded in 2005? That’s a good question and was actually an oversight. Because during the founding phase, which lasted several months, we were told by the register of associations to make the name of our club clearer, so we had to add a suffix. Well, and since it was already 2006 at that time, nobody thought about the fact that 05 would actually be the right name extension…

And then?

Then things really took off. We started training at the end of 2007 and the club began to grow and prosper. The number of members increased in no time at all – the all-time record is over 200 members.

Since Then

Our focus

One focus of our work has always been on supporting children and young people. At times, around 75% of our members were under the age of 18. In recent years, we have developed adult beginners as another focus of the BVF. It’s great to see how “garden players” of all ages develop into real badminton players. We are particularly pleased to see those who sooner or later find their way into competition – whether purely for the fun of playing at the lowest level or with greater ambitions to reach the very top.

Good to know

Our club is primarily organized and run on a voluntary basis. This means that (almost) everyone who does something for or in the BVF does it in their free time alongside their main job – from the board to the coaches to the organizational teams. That’s why it’s important that as many people as possible take on smaller (or larger) tasks so that it doesn’t become too much for anyone.

With us, there has never been a “We’ve never done that before” or a “But it’s always been like that”. Fresh new ideas are always welcome! Do you have an idea of what we could do new, differently or better? Then present it and we’ll try it out together with you. All members and parents can and should actively contribute with their interests and skills – whether in the sports hall or for example at the desk.
